Fifth-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter

This unique coupler lets you tow your fifth-wheel trailer with your gooseneck hitch. It is air ride equipped to ensure that less stress is put on your trailer's frame than is typical with traditional king pin adapters. Simply replace your trailer's existing pin box with the Goose Box and you'll be ready to go.

Eliminate Chucking and Jarring

The Goose Box is designed to absorb road shock for a smooth, stable ride. The internal air bag can be adjusted to give you just the right amount of support, so you will lose the bounce but avoid the stiff, rigid ride that occurs when towing with an overinflated air bag. Also included in the Goose Box are dual shock absorbers, which extend the life of the air bag by ensuring that compression occurs in a controlled fashion.

Cutaway Diagram of Reese Products Goose Box
  1. The air bag can be adjusted to provide a smooth ride for both your truck and trailer. Because it is fully enclosed, it's protected from UV exposure and shielded from road hazards.
  2. Dual shock absorbers help to reduce bounce and relieve stress on your trailer frame.
  3. The integrated pivot tube allows the Goose Box to move fore and aft, minimizing chucking.
  4. The gooseneck coupler attaches to the 2-5/16 inch ball on your gooseneck trailer hitch.

  • Options for Towing A Fifth Wheel With A 2022 F-350 Short Bed With OEM Puck System
With a 2022 F350 short bed, hitting the top of the bed rails should not be an issue with most campers. Turning clearance however, will certainly be a factor. That is one advantage of the Andersen Ultimate hitch # AM3200, as it provides a 9" offset. It is also very light (40 lbs) and will by far be the easiest to manage by yourself. Any other hitch is going to be at least quadruple that. For example, for your truck we would generally recommend a B&W companion hitch # BWRVK3370. Extremely...

  • Is An Offset Ball Needed For The Reese Goosebox In A Short Bed 2014 Ram 3500 Dually
With a short bed truck it's definitely recommended that you use an offset ball to try and prevent the nose of the trailer from contacting the cab of the truck when making tight turns. The Gen-Y Hitch Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # GY83XR provides a 5" offset so you're correct in choosing it. The Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP85FR should clear the tailgate without a problem, but you may still have issues with turning clearance even with offset ball. • Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with a Truck That Has a Recessed Gooseneck Hitch
To tow a 5th wheel trailer with your truck that has a Hauler bed and a recessed gooseneck hitch installed, there are a few different options. Since the goosneck hitch is already installed the easiest way would be to adapt either the truck or trailer so you can hook up and tow. The first option is an adapter that replaces your pin box on your trailer. They are specifically designed to fit certain pin boxes, but this is the most secure permanent solution. • What 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter Hitch do I Need for My 2019 Ford F250 with Short Bed?

I would love to help, but you will need to confirm which pin boxes are currently on your 2020 Keystone Montana High Country 305RL and 345RL to see if one of the Reese Goose Boxes will fit as we do not have a way to determine which pin box was installed on your trailer. To do this you will need to check each pin box for the model number, this is typically a 4 digit number like 1621. If this model number sticker is missing then just send me a picture of the tag that has the serial number...

  • Is the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel-Gooseneck Pin Box Approved by Lippert for 1621 Pin Box
I reached out to Lippert and as of right now they have not tested or approved the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel-Gooseneck Pin Box - Lippert 1621/1621 HD - 21K - 3.5K TW # 325-GH-8045 as a replacement for the 1621. However, this does not mean that they have not tested or approved other Gen-Y products for other pin boxes. • What is the Difference in the 3rd Generation Reese Goosebox?
There are a couple of major differences in the 3rd generation Reese Goosebox item # RP85FR over the prior models. First and foremost it now fits the Lippert Rhino pin box. This pin box is more common now than ever and 5th wheel owners will finally have a gooseneck adapter option that will not void their warranty. Visually the biggest change will be the removal of the taller wings. Reese has changed the angle of the entire goosebox to remove the deeper drop look to a more streamlined appearance....

  • Reese Goose Box Dimensions for Proper Trailer Ride Height with Truck Gooseneck Hitch
The Goose Box Doesn't specifiy the height required from the ground to the ball. Instead it specifies the height from the coupler connection to the front bottom bolt where the pin box attaches. I've attached photos of these dimensions to assist with the Goose Box # RP85FR. Bed height can be adjusted at the pin box bolts, with the angle of the connection on the Goose Box, or at the axles of the trailer itself to find the proper fit for your truck and trailer.

While we do have other options for you, the only way to use the B&W Companion # BWRVK3500 or # BWRVK3400 is by having the entire B&W Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1016 installed on your 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500 as there isn't a way to safely fit different parts of gooseneck hitches together.
